Biography

Vera's practice focuses on criminal defense, and their research interests include the development of the global rights of nature movement. While in law school, they interned with the Wisconsin State Public Defender, Midwest Environmental Advocates, and the Legal Assistance to Incarcerated People Project, and studied both Spanish and Kichwa. Before law school, they organized around international solidarity, worked as a worker-owner at a collectively owned business, and served on staff at a natural food co-op and several environmental and human rights organizations. They are a member of the National Lawyers Guild and are passionate about the rights of formerly incarcerated people, grassroots organizing, environmental justice, and human rights.
